LCCC Honors Ceremony
On Friday, April 19, Lewis & Clark Community College celebrated their students in an Honors Ceremony. Nominees must be nominated by a department faculty member.
The faculty member must write a nomination and present it to their department colleagues. Then those nominees go before the honors committee for final selection.
Among the sixty award recipients were three Brussels alumni. We would like to congratulate Mary Baalman for receiving the Outstanding Student in Mathematics Award, Belle Friedel for receiving the Outstanding Architectural Technology Student-Academics and the Outstanding Architectural Technology Student-Leadership Awards and Mary Vogel for receiving the Outstanding Criminal Justice Student Award. We are so proud of you! Thanks for representing!

Please join us on Thursday, the 25th in the high school building for the Science Fair and Science Night. The Treehouse will be here with some animals and activities along with the USACE. We will also have a room set up with activities from the STEM Center at SIUE. It starts at 6 pm and runs until 8 pm. Everyone is welcome! (Eclipse picture for an attention grabber)

We love having past Brussels alumni come in and share their knowledge with us! Thank you Dr. Jacob Maag and Mrs. Kelly Schulte for coming in and helping with the 7th and 8th grade dissection of lampreys and moray eels.

Golf practice will be on Mondays at Lockhaven Golf Course in Godfrey, IL starting today, 4/15, and going through 5/13. Start time is 4:20 pm. Sorry if there was any confusion last week. This is not mandatory, but we’d love anyone interested in golf this fall to come out and get the feel of it. For any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to the coach at gilbreth87@gmail.com .

Last night we honored 3 of Brussels High School’s finest. Cheyenne Brundies, Delani Klaas and Gracie Klaas all received the Silver Medallion Award. Throughout their high school careers these young ladies have been driven. Driven to do their best and be their best in all they set out to do. From academics to athletics to Girl Scouts to community service, these young ladies have put in the time and effort to produce the best product possible all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Congratulations on all your accomplishments! We wish you nothing but continued success!!!

In addition to honoring our 3 Silver Medallion recipients, we also had the privilege of honoring our very own Dr. Martin, which we have been fortunate enough to call Doc for the last 14 years. At the end of this year, Dr. Martin will be retiring after 48 years in public education spanning 4 districts in 2 states. Think about that educators 48 years…48 first days of school, 48 school picture days, 48 parent teacher conferences, 48….well you get it. Doc has definitely earned the right to retire after all his years of service and we here at Brussels are going to miss him tremendously. So, it is with great pride that we had the privilege to honor and thank him for his years of service last night. Thank you, Doc! Once a Raider, Always a Raider! Ladies and Gentlemen - Dr. Mark Martin.

The Junior High Class is hosting a Bake Sale to raise money for graduation and field trips. We hope to see everyone there!!

Due to total loss of electricity, Brussels CUSD 42 will dismiss at 12:15. The lack of electricity creates a number of safety concerns at school. Students will be served lunch prior to dismissal. Hope to see you all tomorrow. Thank you!

Good Morning Brussels Families! At this moment, 8:02 am on Thursday, March 14 we only have partial power at school. We will serve breakfast and see what happens with the power. Please keep your phones available for future updates. The phones are out also. Thank you.

WOO HOO, Sadie Kiel!
Congratulations, Sadie, for making 2nd team all-conference for WIVC basketball. We are so proud of you! Congratulations also to Audrey Gilman and Kate Zipprich for making 1st team all-conference.
Together We Rise

As the 5/6 boys basketball season comes to an end, Coach Gilbreth and Coach Fuhler celebrated by honoring the boys and their parents with a friendly pick up game where the boys took on their parents/family. Laughs were had, memories were made, and hamstrings were pulled. A special thanks to Michael Gilbreth and Adam Fuhler for dedicating their time to coach the boys and to the parents for supporting these boys along the way.

Junior Raider - March
Kayley Schulte - Last quarter Kayley made all the straight As while balancing playing basketball and working during the weekends.

Student of the Month - March
Corree Snyders - Corree comes to class with a positive attitude. When she is given criticism, she works through it to better herself. Her hard work and amicable nature make her a role model to underclassmen.
